    Sean James Fern Ridge Landscaping President

    Biography  Sean James has been gardening professionally since age sixteen, (29 years now!).  He is a graduate of the prestigious Niagara Parks School of Horticulture, a Master Gardener and is a two-time past-President of the Milton & District Horticultural Society.  Sean also writes a monthly gardening column in the Halton Compass and an eco-column for professional landscapers in the national Landscape Trades Magazine – some of which can be read on the 'Newsletters' page of the Fern Ridge website.  He designed the Milton Millennium Garden.  He instructs for Humber College, Mohawk College and Landscape Ontario and is a professional photographer - www.athyiumimages.com.  He sits on the Environmental Stewardship Committee for Landscape Ontario and the Horticultural Outreach Collaborative on invasive plants and is a member of the Green Infrastructure Ontario Coalition.

    He also maintains close associations with solar and water resources companies as well as many other eco-friendly parties.

    He’s spoken on CBC Radio on Green Roofing and in 2009 Sean and Fern Ridge Landscaping were featured in four episodes of HGTV’s ‘Green Force’ starring Carson Arthur and later, two episodes of ‘Marriage Under Construction’.

    His knowledge and opinions about quality, design and the environment have served him well in all of the above endeavors. 

    Sean grew up surrounded by nature, near Crawford Lake in Campbellville, so it was only natural that he would choose a career like Horticulture.

    Mike Prong  Designer / Foreman

    Biography – Approachable, hard working and forward-thinking, Mike Prong has had an interest in landscaping ever since he was a boy growing up in Aylmer, Ontario.  This interest led to his enrollment in Fanshawe College’s landscape design program in the fall of 2009. His farm upbringing gives him a practicality and common sense hard to find nowadays. Mike’s enthusiasm for eco-friendly landscaping along with his attention to detail and customer skills make him a perfect fit for Fern Ridge’s design team. When not creating new designs in the office, Mike is a top foreman, ensuring jobs and crews run smoothly. His hands-on experience informs his eminently practical landscape designs.

    Adam Bonin – Landscape Designer

    Biography – Adam Bonin has over 7 years experience within the landscape industry in construction, design and horticulture.  Adam attended Humber College and has his Horticultural Technician Certification and is a Certified Horticultural Technician in Ornamental Maintenance.  Adam is committed to continuous learning to ensure he is always up-to-date in the industry.  Adam’s love for landscaping extends into the winter months through his volunteer work as a Teacher’s Assistant within the Green Industries (Landscape) Program in the Halton District School Board.  Adam also sits on the certification committee of Landscape Ontario and is a Judge for the Certified Horticultural Technician examination.  Through experience and technical knowledge, combined with passion, creativity and people skills, Adam creates landscapes that will not only reflect the customer and their lifestyle but will ultimately become an extension of their home.

    Ryan Bessey Senior Manager

    Biography – Ryan has been working in the industry since his mid-teens; Fern Ridge installed a landscape at his family home and he liked what he saw.  He worked his way up the ladder and has shown an ability to manage multiple crews and address customer concerns. His enthusiasm for eco-friendly landscaping techniques makes him ideal for ensuring projects run smoothly and making customers happy.  Ryan is currently enrolled at Laurier University in the Environmental Biology program.
